Directions for Use

Case Planning

• Confirm the case requires active space maintenance using tenting screws — typical for vertical ridge augmentation, large lateral defects, or block bone graft alternatives
• Plan tenting screw positions on CBCT — typically 2-4 screws distributed across the defect area
• Select the appropriate length and tenting height based on bone availability and desired vertical augmentation gain
• Plan adequate inter-screw spacing to support the membrane evenly

Surgical Site Preparation

• Complete flap elevation and fully expose the bone defect requiring augmentation
• Decorticate the native bone surface to enhance vascularization and bleeding into the graft
• Identify the tenting screw positions and verify adequate native bone for anchorage

Pilot Drilling

• Use a 1.0 mm (or matching) pilot drill compatible with Ø1.4 mm tenting screws
• Drill pilot holes at each planned screw position with copious saline irrigation
• Adjust pilot hole depth based on the chosen screw length — full thread engagement is essential

Tenting Screw Insertion

• Engage the screw into the appropriate driver (sold separately or part of Surgident GBR fixation kits)
• Insert each tenting screw into its pilot hole, perpendicular to the bone surface
• Drive the screw clockwise under controlled rotation until the flat dome head reaches the planned tenting height above the bone
• Verify the screw is firmly anchored with no rotational play at the planned tenting height
• Repeat at each tenting position across the defect area

Graft Placement and Membrane Coverage

• Place the bone graft material around and between the tenting screws to fill the defect
• Position the chosen barrier membrane over the graft and tenting screws — the screw heads will support the membrane above the graft
• Fix the membrane periphery with bone tacks or fixation screws as planned
• Verify the membrane is tented above the defect and the regenerative space is well maintained

Flap Closure

• Achieve tension-free primary closure over the augmented site
• Suture per the planned protocol and provide post-operative instructions
• Allow the recommended GBR healing period (typically 4-9 months for vertical augmentation)

Screw Removal at Re-Entry

• At the re-entry appointment, expose the augmented site with a flap reflection
• Locate each tenting screw beneath the regenerated bone or soft tissue
• Engage the driver and unscrew each tenting screw counter-clockwise
• Proceed with implant placement or further prosthetic planning as per the case
