Directions for Use

Pre-Surgical Planning

• Identify the clinical indication — autogenous bone harvesting, implant retrieval, or bone core preparation
• For bone harvesting: select the donor site (chin, anterior ramus, tuberosity) based on the required graft volume — the 13 mm length suits anterior and shallow sites particularly well
• For implant retrieval: measure the failed implant diameter via radiography and select the trephine 1 mm larger
• Plan the drilling depth based on the target bone volume or implant length

Pre-Operative Preparation

• Sterilize the complete kit via autoclave following the recommended surgical instrument protocol
• Achieve adequate local anesthesia at the surgical site
• Complete the flap elevation to fully expose the bone surface for harvesting or the failed implant for retrieval

Trephine Selection and Setup

• Select the appropriate diameter trephine bur from the stand based on the case plan
• Attach the bur to a compatible surgical motor contra-angle handpiece
• Set the motor to a low-speed range (typically 800-1500 RPM) with copious saline irrigation
• Verify firm bur engagement before contacting bone

Bone Block Harvesting

• Position the trephine perpendicular to the bone surface at the planned harvest position
• Apply controlled steady pressure with copious saline irrigation
• Drill to the planned depth using the graduated markings on the shaft for visual depth control
• Complete the core cut and gently rock the trephine to release the bone block
• Carefully remove the trephine — the intact bone core remains captured within the hollow lumen
• Push the bone core out of the trephine into a sterile container for grafting

Implant Retrieval

• Choose a trephine 1 mm larger than the failed implant diameter
• Center the trephine over the failed implant with the cutting edge engaging the bone around the implant
• Drill carefully to the implant depth, using copious irrigation to prevent bone heat damage
• The hollow trephine cuts a clean cylindrical osteotomy around the implant
• Remove the trephine and use appropriate forceps to extract the loosened implant from the site
• Manage the residual defect with appropriate grafting and membrane coverage as needed

Post Use Care

• Remove any captured bone particles from each trephine lumen using a sterile cleaning rod or brush
• Clean all burs with surgical-grade detergent under flowing water
• Use a non-metal brush to gently scrub the serrated cutting edges and lumen interior
• Inspect each bur for damage, dull edges, or wear before sterilization
• Sterilize the complete kit via autoclave following the standard surgical instrument protocol
• Return all burs to their designated stand positions for storage
