Description

The Surgident Bone Spreading Kit (SD-BS) is a specialised surgical system for expanding narrow alveolar ridges and placing several implants in a single operation. When the bone ridge is too thin for standard placement, the kit enables controlled lateral expansion without aggressive osteotomy. The procedure begins by incising the alveolar bone using the saw disk, available in Ø7.0 mm and Ø9.0 mm sizes. Spreading pins are then inserted side by side along the incised ridge. The spreading adapter connects to each pin and, when turned clockwise, gradually separates the bone to widen the ridge evenly; a wrench adapter with ratchet wrench can be used as an alternative. After expansion, pins are exchanged for fixtures one at a time, and graft bone material is packed around the placed implants. This system helps clinicians preserve bone volume while creating adequate width for predictable, multi-implant rehabilitation in compromised sites.

Directions for Use

Preparation

• Assess the alveolar ridge width and confirm a bone-spreading approach is suitable
• Select the appropriate saw disk diameter and arrange all components

Operation

• Incise the alveolar bone where the implant will be placed using the saw disk, following the proper incision sequence
• Insert the spreading pins between the incised bone, side by side
• If insertion is not applicable, spread the site using a splitting chisel and operate again
• Connect the spreading adapter to each inserted pin and turn clockwise
• Turn the pins one by one slowly to expand the ridge evenly
• Alternatively, use the wrench adapter with the wrench in place of the spreading adapter
• After expansion, remove the pins and place fixtures one at a time, exchanging each pin and fixture separately
• Fill graft bone material around the placed fixtures

Post Use Care

• Clean all components thoroughly after use
• Sterilise as per standard surgical protocol
• Inspect cutting edges and threads before storage
