Description
Scheu Duran / Duran + (Plus) Integrated Insulation Foil 125mm are hard-elastic, transparent thermoplastic materials ideal for a wide range of dental applications. Duran bonds easily to acrylic without pre-drying and is perfect for creating periodontal splints, bite guards, retainer splints, temporary crowns, bridges, and fluoride splints. Duran+ offers the same properties with the added benefit of an integrated insulation foil for enhanced thermal efficiency during moulding. Both materials are highly abrasion-resistant, nearly unbreakable, and offer excellent breaking resistance, elasticity, and stability. Duran+ is biocompatible and clinically tested for safety (ISO 10993, EN ISO 7405). Ideal for orthodontic and prosthetic treatments, Duran and Duran+ are perfect for splints, bruxism therapy, tooth transposition, anti-snoring devices, and more. They offer easy trimming, polishing, and compatibility with cold-cure resins. For best results, clean with SCHEU-DENTAL CETRON products.
Key Features
- Scheu Duran and Duran+ (Plus) are hard-elastic, transparent PET-G thermoplastic materials, ensuring superior clarity and aesthetic results for dental applications. Duran+ comes with an integrated insulation foil, which guarantees an easy-to-clean, smooth inner surface post-molding.
- Both materials are non-hygroscopic, meaning they do not require pre-drying, saving time and enhancing convenience during preparation and molding.
- Duran+ is highly abrasion-resistant, nearly unbreakable, and offers excellent breaking resistance, elasticity, and form stability. It is clinically tested for biocompatibility according to ISO 10993 and EN ISO 7405 guidelines, ensuring safety for patient use.
- Ideal for a variety of dental treatments, including periodontal splints, bite guards, retainer splints, invisible retainers, temporary crowns, bridges, fluoride splints, and bruxism splints (with or without adjustment). Duran+ is also perfect for orthodontic therapies like miniplast splints, tooth transposition, palatal expansion, and anti-snoring devices.
- Duran+ features integrated insulation foil that enhances thermal efficiency during pressure molding. The material requires short heating times, reducing the overall molding process time.
- Duran+ can be easily trimmed with foil scissors up to a thickness of 1.0 mm. For thicker materials, the recommended finishing set (REF 3378) ensures precise results. Final trimming and polishing can be effectively done using DIMO/DIMO PRO abrasives (REF 3380-3384/3376).
- The material can be compounded and adjusted with cold-cure resins like DURASPLINT, and is compatible with bis-acrylic composites, with the proper bonding agents.
- For optimal longevity, it is recommended to clean Duran and Duran+ with SCHEU-DENTAL CETRON cleaning products. Avoid the use of alcohol-based or vegetable-based cleaning agents, hot water, or steam blasting to preserve the material’s integrity.

Directions for Use
- Preparation: Ensure the dental model is clean and properly prepared for molding. For Duran+, ensure the insulation foil is intact for enhanced thermal efficiency.
- Heating: Heat the Duran or Duran+ blank according to the manufacturer’s recommended time and temperature, ensuring the material reaches the optimal molding temperature. Duran+ has short heating times.
- Molding: Place the heated blank over the dental model and press using a pressure molding machine. Ensure the model is properly embedded in the pellets for optimal strength.
- Removing the Insulation Foil (Duran+ only):
After molding, carefully remove the thin insulating foil from the inner surface of the Duran+ material to reveal a smooth, aesthetic, and easy-to-clean surface.
Trimming: - Trim the molded material using foil scissors for materials up to 1.0 mm thick. For thicker materials, use the recommended finishing set (REF 3378). Final trimming and polishing should be done with DIMO/DIMO PRO abrasives (REF 3380-3384/3376) for the best results.
- Bonding: If necessary, bond the material to acrylic or use cold-cure resins (e.g., DURASPLINT) for compound adjustments. Ensure appropriate bonding agents are used with bis-acrylic composites.
Care: Clean finished products with SCHEU-DENTAL CETRON products. Avoid using alcohol-based cleaners, hot water, or steam to maintain material integrity.
