Transparent Clear sheets for fabrication of periodontal splints, night-guards and bite splints

Description

Scheu Durasoft Pre Dried is a high-performance, pressure-moulding material designed for the fabrication of orthodontic appliances such as periodontal splints, night guards, and bite splints. This unique sandwich material features a hard side (0.8 mm or 1.2 mm) and a soft side (1.0 mm or 1.3 mm), providing the perfect balance of durability and comfort. The hard side bonds to acrylic, while the soft side ensures patient comfort by creating a smooth, cushioned inner surface. Durasoft Pre Dried is pre-dried and individually vacuum sealed, ready for immediate use without the need for additional drying. It is known for its excellent break and abrasion resistance, making it ideal for long-lasting appliances. Additionally, the DURASOFT® Seal forms a robust inner layer, enhancing the appliance’s discoloration resistance and providing a comfortable, soft feel against the gums. This versatile material is ideal for creating periodontal splints, night guards, and bite splints, offering both aesthetic appeal and durability for orthodontic practices.

Directions for Use

Preparation:

  • Ensure the model is clean and dry before use.
  • If using for splint fabrication, it is recommended to insulate the model first using ISOFOLAN® (REF 3207). Cut the foil to the required shape of the splint, creating perforations for air escape using a probe or scalpel.

Thermoforming:

  • Pre-dry the DURASOFT® pd material in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Preheat the material to a temperature range of 160-170°C.
  • Insert the pre-dried DURASOFT® pd material into the thermoforming machine and pressurize if needed.
  • The model, insulated with ISOFOLAN®, should be embedded in the pellets before thermoforming. Optionally, pressurize the DURASOFT® pd material to avoid discolouration of the soft inner layer.

Pressure Moulding:

  • Apply pressure during the thermoforming process according to the specific instructions for your pressure moulding device.
  • Follow the recommended heating times indicated on the blank or the product label.

Adjustment and Occlusal Splints:

  • If adjusting the occlusal splint, the hard PETG side can be built up using DURASPLINT® cold cure resin.
  • Apply the DURASPLINT® monomer to the occlusal surface twice, ensuring it does not come into contact with the soft TPU layer.
  • Polymerize according to the manufacturer’s instructions before removing the splint for finishing.

Finishing:

  • For rough trimming, use the HM carbide cutter (REF 3369) or the cutting bur (REF 3214).
  • For fine interdental finishing, use the HM-trim cutter (REF 3370).
Final trimming and polishing can be done using POLYFIX brown (REF 3371) or the OSAMU polisher (REF 3247).
  • For soft splint parts, use DIMO®, DIMO® PRO (REF 3380-3384), and DIMO® PRO SLIM (REF 3376) for optimal finishing.

Cleaning and Care:

  • Use CETRON® powder from the CETRON® range for regular cleaning, or clean with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and clear water.
  • Avoid using cleaning agents containing oxidizing agents (e.g., active oxygen, chlorine) or organic solvents (e.g., ethanol, acetone).
  • Do not use steam blasting or ultrasonic cleaning devices, or expose the splint to temperatures exceeding 45°C.

Storage and Handling:

  • Once opened, process the material within 15 minutes to prevent air moisture absorption and bubble formation.
  • Ensure the barrier bags are undamaged and tightly sealed before opening.
  • Do not exceed a maximum processing temperature of 200°C. Note that the actual material temperature may be lower than the temperature displayed on the pressure moulding device.

Safety and Disposal:

  • Use only for the specified indications and by qualified personnel.
  • This product is for single use only.
  • Report any serious incidents related to the use of the product to the manufacturer and the relevant authority immediately.
