Key Highlights
Description
Septodont Lignospan Special is a sterile injectable local anaesthetic solution formulated for routine dental infiltration and loco-regional nerve block anaesthesia. Each 1.8 ml glass cartridge contains 2% lidocaine hydrochloride combined with 1:80,000 epinephrine, delivering rapid onset of pulpal anaesthesia and a clinically reliable working window for restorative, endodontic, periodontal, and minor surgical procedures. The added vasoconstrictor prolongs anaesthetic duration while reducing intra-operative bleeding, making the field cleaner and the appointment more efficient. Lignospan Special is manufactured with terminal sterilisation, latex-free plungers and seals, and a methylparaben-free formulation to lower the risk of allergic reactions in sensitive patients. Pack of 50 cartridges arranged as 5 blisters of 10, supplied in tamper-evident packaging that protects the solution from light and contamination until point of use.

Directions for Use
Directions to Use
Preparation
- Verify the cartridge expiry date and inspect the solution; do not use if the liquid appears pinkish, cloudy, or darker than normal.
- Confirm patient medical history, allergy status, and any contraindications to lidocaine or vasoconstrictors before administration.
- Apply a topical anaesthetic gel at the planned injection site to minimise needle insertion discomfort.
Loading
- Load the 1.8 ml cartridge into a compatible aspirating dental syringe with the rubber plunger facing the harpoon end.
- Attach a sterile compatible dental needle of appropriate gauge and length, and pierce the diaphragm cleanly.
- Expel a small drop of solution to confirm patency before approaching the patient.
Administration
- Position the bevel correctly and insert the needle into the planned infiltration or nerve block site using a slow, controlled approach.
- Aspirate before injecting to rule out intravascular placement, and re-aspirate if repositioning the needle.
- Deposit the solution slowly at a rate of approximately 1 ml per minute, monitoring the patient for any adverse response.
- Wait for adequate onset of anaesthesia before commencing the dental procedure, typically within two to four minutes.
Post Use Care
- Recap the needle using a single-handed scoop technique or recapping device, then dispose of the needle in a designated sharps container.
- Discard any partially used cartridge after the procedure and never re-use a cartridge between patients.
- Store unused cartridges below 25 °C in the original carton, protected from light and freezing, until the next clinical use.
