Directions for Use
Isolation
- Begin by isolating the treatment area to maintain a dry and contamination-free environment. Use rubber dams or other appropriate isolation techniques.
Cavity Preparation
- Without Adhesive: Prepare the cavity following guidelines for amalgam fillings, including a retentive preparation design with retentive undercuts. Avoid unsupported enamel areas. Create a deep and wide isthmus, especially for Class II fillings. Use a beveled cavity floor to reduce tension peaks. Rinse and dry the cavity.
- With Adhesive: Prepare the cavity using adhesive technique principles. Preserve as much tooth structure as possible. Avoid sharp internal angles in caries-free areas. The cavity’s geometry depends on the dimensions of the caries lesion or existing filling. Slightly bevel or round out enamel margins. Rinse and dry the cavity.
Pulp Protection/Base (if necessary)
- Depending on whether an adhesive is used:
- Without Adhesive: Selectively coat areas close to the pulp with a calcium hydroxide preparation.
- With Adhesive: A cavity liner is generally not necessary. In deep cavities, coat the pulp-close area with a calcium hydroxide-based preparation and cover it with pressure-resistant cement (e.g., glass ionomer) before applying the dentin-enamel bonding agent. Do not cover other cavity walls.
Matrix and Wedge Placement
- If the cavity involves proximal areas, place a matrix band and secure it with wedges to create the desired tooth shape.
Conditioning and Bonding (if necessary)
- Depending on whether you’re using Cention N with or without an adhesive, Condition the tooth structure and apply the dentin-enamel bonding agent.
Dispensing and Mixing
- Mix the Cention N material according to the recommended ratio of Powder and Liquid components, considering the cavity’s size.
Filling and Shaping
- Place and shape the mixed Cention N material into the prepared cavity.
Finishing and Polishing
- After the material has polymerized, remove any excess material using suitable finishing tools, such as tungsten carbide finishers or fine-grit diamonds. Pay special attention to proximal areas.
Occlusion Check
- Examine the occlusion and articulation to ensure proper tooth alignment. Make any necessary adjustments to prevent premature contacts or undesired articulation paths.
