Directions for Use

Selection:

• Identify the Straumann implant type and surgical site before measurement
• Select the appropriate SmartPeg variant – Standard RC or Tapered RC – according to the implant geometry
• Verify that the SmartPeg is sterile and undamaged before clinical use

Preparation:

• Ensure the implant site is clean and free from saliva or blood to avoid measurement errors
• Calibrate the resonance frequency analyzer (RFA) device if required by the manufacturer
• Prepare the driver tool to assist with SmartPeg placement

Attachment:

• Insert the SmartPeg gently into the Straumann implant interface
• Screw it into place using the provided driver tool without overtightening
• Confirm the SmartPeg is firmly seated and aligned vertically for optimal resonance detection

Measurement:

• Position the RFA probe close to the SmartPeg without making contact
• Activate the device to measure Implant Stability Quotient (ISQ) values
• Record ISQ readings from at least two directions (buccal and lingual or mesial and distal) for accuracy

Interpretation:

• Analyze the ISQ values to assess primary stability or ongoing osseointegration
• Use the results to guide clinical decisions on immediate loading or delayed restoration

Removal:

• Carefully unscrew the SmartPeg after completing ISQ measurements
• Clean and sterilize the SmartPeg according to standard protocol for future use
• Store in its protective case to maintain accuracy and prevent surface damage
