Description

The Surgident Bone Expander Kit (SD-BE) is a complete ridge expansion system for patients with narrow bone ridges or compromised bony tissues. Built around a uniquely engineered expander drill series, the kit enables controlled lateral expansion of the alveolar crest, preserving bone volume for predictable implant placement. The set includes a Ø2.0 guide drill for initial angulation, five tapered expander drills in graduated diameters, a Ø5.0 contouring bur for ridge flattening, a 0.25 mm saw disk for precise corticotomy cuts, a handpiece condenser, and a ratchet wrench. Depth markings at 4, 6, 8, and 10 mm allow accurate working-length control throughout the procedure. Operating at a recommended 40–50 RPM, the system condenses bone laterally rather than removing it, improving primary implant stability while minimising surgical trauma.

Directions for Use

Preparation

• Assess ridge width on CBCT and plan expansion and implant sequence
• Autoclave all components before use
• Administer local anaesthesia and reflect a full-thickness mucoperiosteal flap to expose the alveolar crest

Operation

• Flatten and level the ridge crest using the contouring bur (CT-50)
• Make initial corticotomy cuts along the crest using the saw disk (Ø9.0)
• Begin osteotomy with the Ø2.0 guide drill to establish angulation and depth
• Sequentially advance through expander drills from smallest (Ø1.8/2.5) to largest diameter
• Rotate using the ratchet wrench or handpiece adapter at 40–50 RPM
• Use depth markings at 4, 6, 8, and 10 mm to maintain working length
• Once adequate width is achieved, place implant into the expanded osteotomy
• Apply bone graft and membrane if required and secure with fixation screws

Post Use Care

• Remove bone and tissue debris from all instruments immediately after use
• Ultrasonically clean, dry, and inspect drills for wear or deformation
• Autoclave all components and return to kit tray for storage
