Articulating Paper For Accurate Detection Of Occlusal Contact Points Between Teeth, Restoration & Prosthesis

Description

Maarc Articulating Paper – Soft, smooth, non-sticking, sensitive surface for marking at every point of articulation. All films are available with double-sided color coating for the marking of antagonistic contacts.

Articulating paper is a diagnostic tool used in dentistry to highlight occlusal contacts and the distribution of occlusal forces. That is, it marks those points on the teeth where the teeth contact during biting and grinding. Articulating paper is made of a thin, non-adhesive paper strip covered in fluorescent ink or dye-containing wax. A strip of articulating paper is placed between the teeth while the desired mandibular movements are performed.

Indications :

  • It is used to check the occlusal surfaces of newly placed dental restorations, such as fillings or crowns, and dental prostheses, such as dentures or bridges.
  • It is also used to highlight occlusal interferences in bruxism.

Advantages :

  • Maarc articulating papers are coated with easy transferable ink, so it accurately highlights occlusal contacts.
  • It comes in various thickness.
  • Maarc articulating paper comes with progressive color transfer and aids in visualising static occlusion.
  • Because of its low thickness and flexibility, it adapts perfectly to cusps and fossae, making it extremely precise and therefore suitable for more delicate preparations.
  • Blue & Red both in one articulating paper so that one arch is marked in red and the opposing arch is marked in blue.

Key Features

  • Thickness Options: Available in 40µ and 100µ microns, catering to different clinical needs—fine adjustments vs. heavier occlusal contacts.
  • Color-Coded: Provides clear, vibrant markings for easy assessment of occlusal contacts.
  • Durable: Strong material ensures it withstands biting forces without tearing easily.
  • Precision: Designed for accurate articulation checks, helping to identify occlusal discrepancies effectively.
  • Easy to Use: Simple application process for both clinicians and patients.
  • Versatile: Suitable for various dental procedures, including occlusal adjustments and restorations.

Directions for Use

Preparation:

  • Ensure the occlusal surfaces of the teeth are clean and dry. Remove any debris or saliva that may affect the results.

Selection:

  • Choose the appropriate thickness of articulating paper based on the specific clinical need. Use 40µ for fine adjustments and 100µ for heavier occlusal contacts.

Application:

  • Cut a suitable piece of the articulating paper if needed.
  • Place the articulating paper between the upper and lower teeth, ensuring proper positioning to check occlusal contacts.

Biting:

  • Instruct the patient to bite down gently on the paper to create markings on the occlusal surfaces. Avoid excessive force to prevent damage to the paper.

Assessment:

  • Remove the articulating paper and observe the markings. Evaluate the occlusal contacts based on the color and location of the marks.

Adjustment:

  • If necessary, perform any required adjustments to occlusion based on the findings. Reapply the paper to confirm changes.

Final Checks:

  • After adjustments, recheck occlusion to ensure proper contact and alignment, using fresh articulating paper as needed.

Cleanup:

  • Dispose of the used articulating paper according to standard waste disposal protocols.
