Used as a lever during the extraction of a tooth or retained roots. It is pushed in between the gums and the tooth exterior and used to loosen the tissue surrounding the tooth. By pulling the root elevator straight down, the barb effect arises in which the root is extracted without leverage.

Directions for Use

• Sterilize the root elevator before use.
• Insert the blade into the periodontal ligament space.
• Gently apply rotational force to luxate the tooth.
• Ensure controlled pressure to avoid damage to surrounding structures.
• Use appropriate leverage to lift the tooth from its socket.
• After extraction, check the socket for debris or infection.
• Sterilize and store the instrument after each use.
• Replace the elevator if any wear is observed.
