The Julldent Gracey Curette set (JULL-DENT 194) is a complete range of color-coded, area-specific hand instruments designed for atraumatic subgingival scaling and root planing across the entire dentition. Manufactured from selective surgical-grade stainless steel and finished by skilled artisans on modern CNC machinery, each curette delivers a sharp, durable working edge with consistent geometry across the set. The blade is offset from the terminal shank at 70 degrees, producing a single lower cutting edge that adapts cleanly to root anatomy without gouging cementum. Color-coded handles allow rapid chairside identification, reducing instrument-swap time during periodontal therapy. Each numbered pair (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14) is engineered for a specific zone, from anteriors through premolars to mesial and distal surfaces of posterior molars and furcation areas. Directions for Use

Preparation

• Inspect each curette under magnification and sharpen on a fine Arkansas or ceramic stone if the cutting edge feels dull
• Clean and ultrasonic the instruments with enzymatic solution, then pouch and autoclave at 121 to 134 degrees Celsius
• Identify the correct Gracey number using the color code on the handle for the tooth surface being treated

Placement

• Use Gracey 1/2 and 3/4 on all surfaces of anterior teeth including canines
• Use Gracey 5/6 interproximally on anteriors and premolars, extending up to the second molar where access permits
• Use Gracey 7/8 on buccal and lingual surfaces of premolars and molars
• Use Gracey 9/10 on buccal and lingual molar surfaces, especially around furcations
• Use Gracey 11/12 on mesial root surfaces of posterior teeth
• Use Gracey 13/14 on distal root surfaces of posterior teeth

Operation

• Adapt the lower cutting edge against the tooth with the terminal shank parallel to the root surface
• Establish a stable intraoral finger rest close to the working area for controlled stroke length
• Apply firm lateral pressure against the root surface and engage calculus with the lower one-third of the blade
• Activate short, overlapping vertical or oblique pull strokes coronally; switch to horizontal strokes around furcations with the 9/10
• Re-adapt the blade frequently as the instrument moves around the curvature of the root

Post Use Care

• Rinse instruments under running water immediately after use to prevent debris from drying on the blade
• Ultrasonic clean with enzymatic solution, rinse thoroughly, and dry
• Inspect blades under magnification and re-sharpen before sterilization to maintain working geometry
• Pouch and autoclave; store in a dry sterile cassette to protect cutting edges between appointments
