Directions for Use

• Select a matrix band: Most margin elevations will be performed with the RM500H (ReelMatrix™ Margin Elevation band). A Firm Band is recommended in cases where there is not sufficient tooth structure remaining to allow the RM500H to be securely tightened.
• Place the matrix band: Seat the margin elevation band subgingivally and begin to tighten it using the ReelMatrix handle. The narrowness and enhanced conical shape will allow it to slide more deeply subgingival and seal the margin efficiently.
• Further seal the matrix band: Apply a Fusion Wedge, gingival retraction cord, or other material to definitively seal the matrix against the tooth, preventing any leakage into the preparation.
• Seal the dentin and elevate the margin: Using your preferred materials, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to elevate the margin equigingival or slightly supragingival.
• Remove any flash: Remove the matrix and finish with a #12 blade to remove any flash. The deep margin has been relocated for predictable isolation and delivery of a final restoration.

Double band technique

• If it is not possible to slide the RM500H subgingivally deep enough to reach the deepest portion of the preparation, a Firm Band can be placed inside the RM500H and pressed into place. Care should be taken to not over-tighten the ReelMatrix band, thereby forcing it to encroach into the preparation. Further seal the matrix band if necessary.
