Directions for Use

Preparation:

• For Dry Use:

  • Cut the Osspore Gelatin Foam to the desired size.
  • Roll the foam gently between your fingers and lightly compress it to approximate the diameter of the cavity or socket to be filled.

• For Moistened Use:

  • Cut the foam to the desired size.
  • Immerse the foam in an isotonic sodium chloride solution.
  • Remove the foam from the solution and squeeze it thoroughly to expel air bubbles trapped in the meshes.
  • Return the foam to the solution to allow it to swell to its original size.
  • Remove the foam from the solution and blot it on sterile gauze to remove excess fluid.

2. Application:

• For Dry Foam:

  • Insert the rolled foam into the cavity or socket.
  • Apply light finger pressure for one to two minutes to ensure proper placement and contact.

• For Moistened Foam:

  • Place the moistened foam into the cavity or wound.
  • Apply gentle pressure to ensure full contact and proper placement.

3. Use with Thrombin:

• If using thrombin in conjunction with the foam, consult the thrombin insert for complete prescribing information and proper preparation instructions.

4. Storage and Handling:

• Store the unopened package at 25°C (77°F), with permissible excursions to 15-30°C (59-86°F) as per USP Controlled Room Temperature guidelines.
• Once opened, the product is subject to contamination. Use the foam as soon as the package is opened and discard any unused contents.
• The product is prepackaged sterile and intended for single use only.

5. Disposal:

• Dispose of used or expired foam in accordance with local medical waste disposal regulations.
