Directions for Use

Assemble the Retainer and Matrix Band

• Select the appropriate matrix band based on the tooth and restoration type.
• Insert the matrix band into the Tofflemire retainer by threading it through the head and securing it using the sliding body.
• Adjust the loop size by turning the long knob to ensure the band fits around the tooth properly.

Position the Retainer on the Tooth

• Place the matrix band around the tooth being restored.
• The open side of the retainer’s head should face toward the gingiva (gums) for proper positioning.
• Ensure the band extends slightly above the occlusal (biting) surface to allow for proper filling placement.

Secure the Matrix Band

• Tighten the long knob to secure the band snugly around the tooth.
• Use the short knob to lock the band firmly in place.
• Ensure the band fits tightly against the adjacent tooth to create a proper contact point.

Wedge Placement (if needed)

• Insert a wooden or plastic wedge between the teeth at the gingival margin to help seal the band against the tooth.
• This prevents overhangs and ensures a tight contact point for the filling.

Proceed with Restoration

• Place the filling material (amalgam or composite) inside the cavity preparation.
• Condense and shape the material as needed.

Remove the Retainer and Matrix Band

• Once the filling is set, loosen the short knob to release the band.
• Carefully remove the retainer first, then slide the matrix band out gently to avoid damaging the restoration.

Finish and Polish

• Check for overhangs or rough edges and smooth the restoration with polishing tools.
• Verify the contact point with dental floss to ensure a proper fit
