Directions for Use

Preparation:

• Ensure the surgical area is clean and sterile.
• Open the sterile suture package using aseptic technique.
• Select the appropriate needle holder and other surgical instruments needed for the procedure.

Suturing:

Needle Insertion:

• Hold the needle with a needle holder, grasping it at approximately one-third the distance from the swaged end.
• Insert the needle into the tissue at the desired starting point, typically about 2-3 mm from the wound edge.

Pass the Needle:

• Push the needle through the tissue in a continuous, smooth motion, ensuring minimal tissue trauma.
• Pull the needle and suture through the tissue until only a short tail remains.

Forming the Knot:

First Throw:

• Loop the suture around the needle holder twice.
• Grasp the short tail with the needle holder and pull it through the loop to form the first throw of the knot.

Subsequent Throws:

• Repeat the looping and pulling process, alternating the direction of the loops, to form additional throws and secure the knot.
• Typically, three to four throws are sufficient to ensure knot security.

Securing the Suture:

Tighten the Knot:

• Gently pull the suture ends to tighten the knot, ensuring it lies flat and secure against the tissue.

Trim the Excess:

• Use sterilized scissors to trim the excess suture material, leaving about 2-3 mm of the tail to prevent slippage.

Continue Suturing:

Repeat the Process:

• Move to the next suture point, approximately 5-10 mm from the previous stitch, depending on the wound size and location.
• Repeat the needle insertion, knot formation, and trimming steps until the wound is completely closed.

Final Steps:

Check for Security:

• Ensure all knots are secure and the wound edges are properly approximated.

Apply Dressing:

• Apply a sterile dressing over the sutured wound to protect it and promote healing.
