Description

GDC Periotomes Flexi (PTF1) is a precision dental instrument designed for atraumatic tooth extractions and dental implant site preparation. Featuring a thin, sharp, flexible blade, it carefully severs the periodontal ligament (PDL) fibers that anchor the tooth to the surrounding alveolar bone, minimizing trauma to adjacent tissues. The flexible blade design allows it to adapt to the natural contours of the tooth root and socket, enabling controlled and precise ligament cutting while reducing the risk of bone fracture. Its fine blade tip is gently inserted into the periodontal space, preserving the crestal bone essential for successful implant placement. Clinically, the PTF1 is used for atraumatic extractions, socket preservation, and pre-implant site preparation. By reducing the force required for tooth removal, it minimizes post-operative pain, preserves alveolar bone volume, and significantly improves conditions for immediate or delayed implant placement.

Directions for Use

• Patient Preparation
  Administer local anesthesia to the extraction site and ensure adequate numbness before proceeding.
• Instrument Selection
  Select the PTF1 periotome appropriate for the tooth size and position being extracted.
• Initial Insertion
  Gently insert the thin blade into the periodontal space between the tooth root and the alveolar bone at the gingival margin.
• Ligament Severing
  Apply careful apical pressure with a slight rotating motion to sever the periodontal ligament fibers progressively around the entire circumference of the tooth.
• Work Around the Tooth
  Systematically work the blade around all sides of the tooth — mesial, distal, buccal, and lingual — to fully detach the ligament.
• Tooth Removal
  Once the ligament is adequately severed, use extraction forceps or elevators to gently luxate and remove the tooth with minimal force.
• Socket Inspection
  Inspect and curette the socket as needed for socket preservation or implant site preparation.
