Waldent Silane Primer Bottle 3ml – Ceramic Bonding Primer For Porcelain and Li-Disilicate

Description

Waldent Silane is a single component coupling agent designed as an adhesion promoter often used to improve bond between porcelain and composite. Prior to application of Silane, the porcelain repair site must be etched with Waldent Porcelain Etchant. This process allows porcelain to become highly porous and also highly receptive to silane by creating reactive hydroxyl groups on the surface of the porcelain. Silane is a dual function monomer consisting of a silanol group that reacts with the porcelain surface, and a methacrylate group that co-polymerizes with the resin matrix of the composite. Preliminary treatment of prostheses with Silane allows to create active centres on the surface providing long-lasting connection with high adhesive strength. Silane coupling agents are known to enhance the wettability of glass substrates by composite resins, increase physical, mechanical and chemical bonding of composite to porcelain, and yield a greater resistance to water attack at the bonding interface.

Directions for Use

• Etch clean bonding surface with Porcelain etchant (hydrofluoric acid) for 90 seconds, then rinse and dry
• Apply phosphoric acid for five seconds to remove porcelain salts and debris formed by hydrofluoric acid etching. Rinse and air dry afterwards
• Apply a puddle coat of Waldent Silane to the etched surface for 60 seconds, followed by bonding adhesive and composite
