Tor Vm Sectional Contoured Matrices Kits are intended to separate the approximate surfaces of neighboring teeth during the restoration of type II. All matrices are volumetric, concave, formed from special corrosion-resistant steel. Thin matrixes are convenient to use for the restoration of small defects, thick ones – for the restoration of large carious cavities with destruction in the subgingival region. Thick matrixes keep the form well, which in some cases does not allow the use of wedges when restoring the gingival margin or the arbor wall. Hard matrices are easier to introduce, however, their adaptation to the formation of a contact point is difficult.

Directions for Use

Installing contoured metal matrices with a ring can be done by following these general steps:

• Select the appropriate size and contour of matrix band to match the tooth being restored.
• Place the matrix band around the tooth, making sure it fits snugly against the tooth and reaches the bottom of the proximal box.
• If necessary, use a wedge to help hold the matrix band in place.
• Insert the contoured metal matrix into the matrix band, making sure it sits flush against the tooth and extends slightly beyond the gingival margin.
• Place the matrix retainer ring over the matrix band and matrix, making sure it fits snugly.
• Use a suitable instrument to tighten the ring, compressing the matrix and band against the tooth.
• Apply the restorative material, such as composite resin or amalgam, to fill the cavity.
• Cure the restorative material according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Remove the ring and matrix band, and finish and polish the restoration as needed.
