Description

The OSL Weingart Plier is a versatile orthodontic instrument with angular, serrated tips designed to firmly hold wires at convenient working angles. It’s primarily used to guide and move archwires in and out of placement and for bending archwire ends. Made from high-quality stainless steel, these pliers feature a slim, tapered beak that easily fits between brackets and provides access to difficult-to-reach areas, including lingual and posterior regions. The ergonomic design ensures comfortable handling with reduced finger fatigue. Available in variations including fine-tipped (holding wires up to 0.022″x0.028″) and large models (holding wires up to 0.033″), these autoclavable pliers are anti-corrosive and feature a box joint for durability.

Directions for Use

• Sterilization: Before use, clean the plier thoroughly in water at 40°–60°C, preferably using an ultrasonic cleaner with rust-inhibiting solution. Dry completely, lubricate joints with medical-grade oil, then autoclave at 134–135°C for at least 5 minutes to ensure proper sterilization
• Grip the Archwire: Hold the plier by its ergonomic handle. Use the curved, serrated tips to firmly grasp the orthodontic archwire, ensuring a secure, slip-resistant hold
• Guide the Wire: Carefully guide the archwire in or out of brackets and buccal tubes. The tapered, angled tips allow easy access to tight or hard-to-reach areas within the mouth
• Bend or Adjust Wire Ends: Use the plier tips to bend, twist, or adjust the ends of archwires precisely for proper fit and patient comfort
• Maintain Control: The lightweight, ergonomic design reduces hand fatigue and provides precise control during wire manipulation
• Post-Use Cleaning: After the procedure, clean and sterilize the plier again following the initial sterilization steps to maintain hygiene and instrument longevity
