Directions for Use

Preparation:

• Ensure the surgical site is thoroughly cleaned and sterilized.
• Choose the appropriate suture size and needle type based on the surgical procedure and tissue type.

Opening the Package:

• Open the sterile suture package carefully to maintain sterility.
• Use sterile gloves and instruments to handle the suture and needle.

Needle Handling:

• Secure the needle with a needle holder, ensuring a firm grip.
• Position the needle at the desired entry point on the tissue.

Needle Insertion:

• Insert the needle into the tissue at a 90-degree angle, approximately 2-3 mm from the wound edge.
• Use a smooth, controlled motion to pass the needle through the tissue to minimize trauma.

Suturing Technique:

• Employ the chosen suturing technique (e.g., interrupted, continuous, or mattress sutures).
• Ensure even spacing between sutures for optimal wound closure.

Knot Tying:

• Tie secure knots using standard surgical knot-tying techniques.
• Ensure knots are tight enough to hold tissue together but not so tight as to cause tissue damage.

Trimming:

• Trim excess suture material, leaving approximately 3-5 mm of suture tail to prevent knots from untying.

Inspection:

• Inspect the sutured wound to ensure proper alignment and secure closure.
• Adjust any stitches if necessary to achieve optimal wound healing.

Non-Absorbable Sutures:

• Since Meril Filasilk sutures are non-absorbable, they will not dissolve over time.
• Arrange for the sutures to be cut and removed by a healthcare professional after the wound has adequately healed.
