Julldent Langer Curette (JULL-DENT 196) combines the universal curette design of Columbia with the angled shanks of Gracey curettes, giving clinicians a single instrument family that adapts to both mesial and distal tooth surfaces without changing instruments mid-procedure. The 90-degree angle between the terminal shank and blade face allows efficient subgingival debridement, root planing, and soft tissue degranulation during periodontal therapy and surgical flap procedures. Each variant is shank-specific to a region of the mouth, helping clinicians reach difficult posterior pockets and deep furcations with controlled lateral pressure. Directions for Use

Preparation

• Select the appropriate variant — SL 1/2 for mandibular posteriors, SL 3/4 for maxillary posteriors, SL 5/6 for anterior teeth
• Ensure the curette is sterilized via standard autoclave cycle prior to use
• Inspect the cutting edges for sharpness; sharpen using a fine-grit sterile stone if required

Placement

• Hold the instrument in a modified pen grasp with a stable finger rest on adjacent teeth
• Insert the blade into the periodontal pocket with the face nearly parallel to the root surface
• Adapt the lower one-third of the cutting edge against the tooth surface

Operation

• Establish a working angulation of 60 to 80 degrees between the blade face and the root surface
• Apply controlled lateral pressure and engage the blade with short, overlapping vertical or oblique strokes
• Use the same instrument for both mesial and distal surfaces by rotating between the two working ends
