Directions for Use

• Ensure that the probe is clean and sterilized before use. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper cleaning and sterilization procedures.
• Put on appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and a face mask, to maintain a sterile environment.
• Hold the probe in a pencil grip, with your index finger resting on the handle and your thumb supporting the instrument.
• Position the slender and graduated tip of the probe near the area to be examined, such as the gingival sulcus or periodontal pocket.
• Gently insert the probe into the sulcus or pocket, maintaining a light and controlled pressure. The goal is to reach the bottom of the pocket without causing discomfort or injury to the patient.
• As the probe advances, note the measurements indicated by the graduated markings on the instrument. Read the measurement at the point where the probe tip reaches the base of the pocket.
• Move the probe along the gingival margin, examining multiple sites within each tooth’s sulcus or pocket. Take measurements at different locations to assess the pocket depth and gum recession accurately.
• Record the measurements obtained for each site on a periodontal chart or patient record.
• After completing the examination, carefully remove the probe from the sulcus or pocket, ensuring minimal trauma to the surrounding tissues.
• Thoroughly clean and sterilize the probe using appropriate methods, following the manufacturer’s instructions, before and after each use.
