Description

Electronic apex locator is an electronic device used in endodontics to determine the position of the apical constriction and thus determine the length of the root canal space. The apex of the root has a specific resistance to electrical current, and this is measured using a pair of electrodes typically hooked into the lip and attached to an endodontic file.

Lip Hooks are an accessory for an Apex Locator. The circuit between the EPT instrument is closed when the lip hook is in contact with the patients lips, cheek or gingival. The lip hook can easily be placed under a patients rubber dam if necessary. Mucosal lip clip is used to complete the circuit.

Testing wire is an accessory for an Apex Locator. It is the main cable which is attached to Main Unit Apex Locator. Other two end of the testing cable gets attached to Lip Hook and File Clip.

File Clip is attached to testing wire and to the Endodontic File which is used for measuring the working length of canal.

The Lip Hook and File Clip should be disinfected and sterilized by autoclaving between treatments.
The Testing wire, should be cleaned using tissue or soft cloth impregnated with aldehyde free disinfecting and detergent solution.

Note: Everything is universal except testing wire.

Directions for Use

• Connect the measurement cable to the device and make sure that the cable icon appears on the status bar.
• Connect the lip clip and the file clip/touch probe to the measurement cable.
• Attach the lip clip to the patient, preferably on the opposite side of the tooth being treated.
• Insert endodontic file into the canal and connect the file clip to the file (to ensure precise measurements the file size should be adjusted to the canal diameter). Alternatively, use the touch probe to provide electrical contact with the endodontic file.
