Directions for Use

Mixing Preference

• Can be mixed using pestle & mortar, mechanical amalgamator, or rubber fingerstall.
• Amalgam/Mercury ratio: 1:1.1 by weight.

Cavity Preparation

• Ensure correct cavity preparation with adequate undercuts and insulating lining.
• The cavity must be dry.
• Place a matrix in position before mixing to receive amalgam immediately.

Mixing Technique

• Manual: 30 seconds of brisk trituration with mortar & pestle (200 rev/min, 2–3 lbs pressure, 0.4 g sample).
• Mechanical: ~10 seconds in amalgamator (varies with apparatus and quantity). Do not knead in the palm or pack into a wet cavity (moisture causes expansion). If mulling is needed, transfer mix to washed rubber dam or fingerstall.

Packing & Condensing

• Roll mixed amalgam into a cylinder, cut into small pieces.
• First portion should contain slight excess mercury to cover cavity floor.
• Subsequent portions must be squeezed dry before packing.
• Condense each layer with maximum permissible pressure using the largest plugger that fits.
• Use dry amalgam to absorb excess mercury at the surface.
• Begin carving immediately after cavity is filled.

Polishing

• Perform final polishing 24 hours after insertion for a lasting, mirror‑like finish.
