Key Highlights

Non - absorbable bone regeneration membrane containing polytetrafluoroethylene to promote tissue regeneration

Description

Xcem Osspore PTFE is a medical-grade polytetrafluoroethylene barrier membrane engineered for guided bone regeneration. Highly hydrophobic and bacteria-impervious (pore size <0.2 µm), the membrane maintains a clean, sterile graft environment during the early healing phase.

The non-resorbable design holds the graft compartment stable without needing primary soft-tissue closure over the membrane — a practical advantage where flap tension or vascular compromise is a concern. Once the graft is mature, the membrane can be removed without an additional surgical procedure.

Biologically inert and chemically non-reactive, the PTFE membrane does not interfere with natural healing or attract bacterial colonisation. Its robust yet flexible construction makes it a reliable choice among non-resorbable bone grafts and membranes used in ridge augmentation, socket preservation and peri-implantitis defect repair.

Key Features

  • The PTFE membrane is highly hydrophobic, effectively repelling water and preventing moisture from penetrating, which helps in maintaining a dry and sterile environment at the surgical site.
  • With a pore size of less than 0.2 micrometers, the membrane is virtually impervious to bacteria, reducing the risk of infection and promoting a safe healing environment.
  • The membrane is biologically inert, meaning it does not react with bodily fluids or tissues, minimizing the risk of adverse reactions or complications.
  • The membrane is non-resorbable, providing long-lasting support without being absorbed by the body. This ensures that it remains intact throughout the healing process.
  • Although non-resorbable, the PTFE membrane can be removed without the need for additional surgery, allowing for convenient adjustments or removal if necessary.
  • Suitable for a range of medical applications, the PTFE membrane’s features make it an adaptable solution for various surgical needs and procedures.

Directions for Use

  • Preparation: Ensure the surgical site is clean and sterilized according to standard protocols. Open the PTFE membrane packaging aseptically to maintain sterility.

  • Application: Carefully place the PTFE membrane onto the prepared surgical site or defect area. Position the membrane to cover the area completely, ensuring proper alignment with the surrounding tissues.

  • Securing: If necessary, use appropriate fixation techniques or surgical adhesives to secure the membrane in place. Avoid using excessive force that may damage the membrane.

  • Post-Placement: Monitor the surgical site regularly to ensure proper adherence of the membrane and to check for any signs of complications. Do not perform primary closure unless specified by the surgical procedure.

  • Removal: The PTFE membrane can be removed non-surgically if required. Gently lift the edges of the membrane using sterile instruments, ensuring minimal disturbance to the underlying tissue.

  • Disposal: Dispose of used or removed membranes in accordance with local regulations for medical waste.
