Directions for Use

• Preparation: Before starting the procedure, ensure that the dental prophylaxis handpiece and equipment are clean and ready for use. Make sure the patient is in a comfortable position.
• Paste Application: Dispense an appropriate amount of Medicept Protec Prophylaxis Paste onto a disposable prophy cup or a polishing brush, depending on your preference and the patient’s needs.
• Patient Protection: Advise the patient to keep their mouth slightly open throughout the procedure to prevent excessive splattering. Additionally, provide the patient with protective eyewear to shield their eyes from any accidental splashes.
• Prophylaxis Procedure: Hold the prophy cup or polishing brush at a 45-degree angle to the tooth surface. Gently place the cup or brush against the tooth, ensuring it covers the area to be cleaned.
• Rotation Speed: Set the dental handpiece to the appropriate rotation speed required for prophylaxis. The thixotropic properties of the paste should help minimize spattering at the chosen rotation speed.
• Cleaning Process: Move the prophy cup or polishing brush in slow, circular motions, gradually covering all tooth surfaces. Focus on areas with visible plaque buildup or staining.
• Rinsing: Periodically rinse the patient’s mouth and the prophy cup or brush to remove excess paste and debris.
• Flavor Choice: If the patient has a flavor preference, use the desired flavor (Orange, Mint, Strawberry, or Bubblegum) of Medicept Protec Prophylaxis Paste to enhance patient acceptance and comfort.
• Completion: Continue the prophylaxis procedure until all tooth surfaces have been thoroughly cleaned. Pay attention to interproximal areas and hard-to-reach spots.
• Patient Instructions: After completing the prophylaxis, provide the patient with instructions on post-procedure oral care, including proper brushing, flossing, and any additional recommendations.
