- Assess the presence of bleeding or inflammation in the gums by observing any signs of bleeding or redness upon contact with the probe. Take note of the areas where bleeding or inflammation is detected.
- Perform a thorough screening by examining multiple sites within each tooth’s sulcus or pocket. Take note of any abnormal findings or areas of concern.
- Record the findings of the screening on a periodontal chart or patient record, noting the presence of bleeding or inflammation, as well as any other observations.
- After completing the screening, carefully remove the probe from the sulcus or pocket, ensuring minimal trauma to the surrounding tissues.
- Thoroughly clean and sterilize the probe using appropriate methods, following the manufacturer’s instructions, before and after each use.
