The GDC Extraction Forceps Upper Molars Right Ergonomic (FX17E) is designed for the controlled extraction of maxillary right first and second molars, with the FX17 beak pattern offering individual adaptation to the mesiobuccal and palatal root anatomy of upper right molars. Unlike cowhorn-pattern forceps, the FX17 series features separate beak arms that engage the individual root surfaces, making it suitable for cases where root separation or conservative extraction technique is preferred.

The Ergonomic handle variant represents GDC’s refined grip design — with a wider, textured handle profile that reduces operator hand fatigue during extended extraction sessions and provides a more secure hold during the buccal-palatal rocking and rotational motions used to luxate upper molars. The ergonomic handle is particularly valued in high-volume practices and oral surgery setups.

All FX17E forceps are manufactured from austenitic stainless steel with GDC’s standard corrosion-resistant finish, fully compatible with steam autoclave sterilization at 134°C.

Directions for Use

• Ensure the instrument is properly sterilized before use.
• Administer appropriate local anesthesia to the patient.
• Gently detach the gingival attachment around the tooth using a periosteal elevator.
• Select the forceps and position the beaks firmly around the cervical area of the upper right molar.
• Apply controlled apical pressure to secure a proper grip on the tooth.
• Perform slow, buccal and palatal movements to luxate the tooth.
• Once mobility is achieved, apply traction to remove the tooth from the socket.
• Inspect the extracted tooth and socket for any remaining fragments.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize the instrument after use.
