Description

As part of the Class II preparations, The AutoMatrix System indicates the placement of a matrix band around a prepared tooth and facilitates contouring of a direct placement restorative material.

Directions for Use

Preparing Matrix – To properly fit tooth, matrix should be slightly larger than occlusal circumference. To enlarge matrix : Unroll coil slightly with finger. Using finger, slide the AUTO-LOCK against the coil.

Positioning Matrix – Position matrix with the AUTO-LOCK LOOP at the center of the buccal or lingual or the remaining section of standing tooth.

Tightening Matrix

• Insert tip of AUTOMATE III tightening device into coil (do not force). Until tightened, stabilize matrix to gingival with finger.
• Rotate knurled handle CLOCKWISE. After 2 to 3 clicks, stop. The band is subgingivally tightened.

REMOVING THE TIGHTENING DEVICE – Rotate AUTOMATE III device continuously counterclockwise (backwards) and simultaneously withdraw AUTOMATE III device from coil.

Restore Tooth – Place anatomical wedges as desired (buccal and/or lingual). Burnish contact areas as needed. Restore tooth.

Removing the Matrix

• To open and remove matrix, use shielded SNIPPERS and clip any part of projecting end of AUTO-LOCK LOOP. Keep SNIPPERS closed during the withdrawal from mouth.
• Insert a probe through LOCK-RELEASE HOLE located near the coil. Gently pull LOCKRELEASE HOLE occlusally until the matrix slips open. Slide matrix buccally or lingually while removing matrix occlusally.
