Description

Dental Retraction Cord is specially designed for gingival tissue management during restorative and prosthodontic procedures. Manufactured from 100% knitted cotton, the cord offers excellent absorbency and gentle tissue displacement without causing significant trauma to soft tissues. The knitted loop design creates a continuous outward force after placement, allowing effective gingival retraction and improved access to preparation margins.

In deeper gingival sulcus cases, a double-cord technique can be used by placing a thinner cord at the base of the sulcus followed by a slightly thicker cord above it. This technique helps protect the gingival margin from injury during procedures and improves visibility of tooth edges for accurate impressions and restorations.

The cord is ideal for impression taking, crown and bridge procedures, Class II restorations, and adhesive restorations extending near or below the gingival margin. It also works efficiently with haemostatic solutions such as aluminum chloride for improved bleeding control. The soft texture ensures patient comfort while minimizing soft tissue injury and bleeding.

Directions for Use

• Select the appropriate cord size according to sulcus depth.
• If required, soak the cord in a suitable haemostatic solution.
• Gently place the cord into the gingival sulcus using a cord packing instrument.
• For deep sulcus cases, place a thinner cord first followed by a thicker cord above it.
• Leave the cord in place for approximately 3–8 minutes for optimal tissue displacement.
• Remove the upper cord carefully before impression taking or restorative procedure.
